A La Carte Classes

The “a la carte” class option at New Heights Learning Collaborative allows families with students in our Upper Elementary/Middle School program to select individual classes based on their student’s interests and needs, providing flexibility and personalized learning experiences without having to enroll in a full-time or part-time option.

Reading/Writing/Grammar

Our Reading/Writing and Grammar learning block takes place every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9:30 am to 10:30 am. Each core content area is thoughtfully crafted around a central learning theme for the month, which involves novel studies, mentor texts, writing journals, published works, and projects. Our goal is for students to establish meaningful connections to the text, draw meaningful from a text, and apply their knowledge and skills they’ve learned from a text in a real-world setting.

Science

Our science learning is on Tuesdays and Thursday from 11:30 am – 12:30 pm.We will utilize Generation Genius as a curriculum to shape our learning experiences. While this will serve as a resource, much of our science curriculum will be customized to align with the monthly learning theme. For instance, our novel study for August will focus on a hearing child born to deaf parents. In science for the month of August, we will delve into topics such as sound energy, the anatomy of the ear, and how the brain processes this sensory input. Generation Genius will offer valuable resources but the concepts we explore will be presented in a context that is meaningful and authentic.

Tuition: $250/month

Social Studies

Our science learning is on Tuesdays and Thursday from 9:30 am – 10:30 pm. Social Studies will provide students with an opportunity to deeply explore the reasons behind our local, national, and global communities. While understanding the facts is crucial in Social Studies, we aim for students to extract valuable lessons from history and apply them to contemporary society. Our Social Studies curriculum will emphasize project-based, hands-on learning, all centered around our monthly learning theme.
