Programs

We provide programs tailored to fit your family’s needs, whether you seek full-time education or individual classes.

Early Elementary

Full Time

Our early elementary program serves students aged 4-7 and follows a traditional 10-month schedule. Classes are held Monday through Thursday from 9 am to 1 pm. Our curriculum emphasizes play, inquiry, and student-led learning activities. We believe that imaginative play, time in nature, and autonomy are essential for developing a strong mind and character. We only offer a full-time option for this program.

FAQ

Our goal is to support families in their child’s educational journey. If you wish to change programs, we will do our best to accommodate your request. However, please note that we may be limited in increasing the frequency of services. For instance, if you initially chose the a la carte option but now prefer your child to attend the part-time 3-day program, we may not have the space to accommodate this change. Nevertheless, if it is feasible, we will gladly provide this service

No, and that is not something we plan to pursue at this time. We started New Heights Learning Collaborative to remove government regulations so that we can have true freedom to do what is best for kids.

I taught in public education for 11.5 years and served as an administrator for 2.5 years. I hold a teaching certification as a generalist and in the area of science, as well as a Master’s Degree in Teaching from TWU. I am dedicated to continuous learning, regularly engaging with reading materials, podcasts, and research to enhance my ability to reach and teach my students effectively.

We are located in Midlothian, TX, specifically on the Ovilla/Waxahachie side. We are currently finalizing plans for the location of our early elementary program. Our upper elementary and middle school program will run out of my home for this first year. This is to keep cost low for families, plus, my outdoor space is amazing and hard to beat!

At New Heights LC we are not replicating public school at home. This means we will not have grades. Assigning grades does a huge disservice to the learning process and is one of the main reasons students lose their love for learning. Instead, we will work with students at their own pace to reach mastery. Parents will get a progress report every month and it will show mastery of our learning goals or “not yet”.

It can be difficult to shift your mindset around a different education model, especially if public school is the model you yourself have experienced. Mastery of objectives will be assessed. In fact, we will be assessing students every day, just not in the way public school does. We work with our students one-on-one and in small groups, we take notes as we watch them work independently and with peers. Students show their learning in whatever way they choose and we listen and observe to ensure they understood the learning goal. Monthly progress reports will be sent home so that parents can also see their child’s progress.

We do not believe there is a one-size-fits-all model for educating students. We provide a one-week trial for families to experience our dynamic and alternative approach to education. If you decide you want to continue with New Heights Learning then tuition for that week is rolled into your monthly tuition and fees. However, if you determine that we are not the best option to meet your child’s needs, you are under no obligation to continue and are not held to the monthly tuition requirement.

We will have two teachers: one for the early elementary program and one for the upper elementary/middle school. We are also opening up TA positions for current homeschooling teens that need an elective credit.
