Community Based Learning

Community-based learning enriches the educational experience, empowering students to make meaningful contributions to their communities and society.

Why Community Based Learning?

This segment of our program is exclusively for students aged 8 to 14. Each month, these students will collaborate on a community service initiative with the sole aim of serving others. At New Heights Learning Collaborative, our focus is on intentionally nurturing qualities like empathy, compassion, and kindness, ensuring that our students grow to be good humans.

What will this look like?

We believe in allowing students to drive their experiences so they are meaningful and relevant to them. How we will serve people within our local community and beyond will be a group effort in determining what that will look like.

We will act as a guide and facilitate some ideas such as partnering with a local church to assist a family in need with lawn care or clean up, visiting long-term care facilities to spend time with elders in our community and/or working with local animal shelters to socialize the animals and help organize an adoption event.

The list of possibilities are truly endless and I am so excited to see how are students grow in their self confidence by helping others as well as their ability to connect with others.
