Early Elementary

Our early elementary program is a nature-based, play-focused program designed for students aged 4 to 7 years old.

Our Learning is

Play-Based

Imaginative play is beneficial for children’s cognitive, social, emotional, and language development. Research shows that children that engaged in more imaginative play showed better performance on tasks measuring executive function, such as problem-solving and creativity. Research also shows that children showed higher levels of social competence, such as cooperation and conflict resolution skills when they are given time for imaginative play. At New Heights LC we intentionally design our daily schedule to incorporate time for students to have unstructured play time with their peers.

Nature Inspired

Learning in nature offers a range of benefits for students of all ages. Being in nature can stimulate creativity and enhance problem-solving skills. Natural environments provide unique stimuli and opportunities for exploration, which can spark new ideas and innovative thinking. Outdoor learning environments often encourage collaboration, communication, and teamwork, which can improve social skills and relationships among students.

Student-Centered

A student-centered approach allows for personalized learning experiences tailored to individual student needs, interests, and learning styles. This can lead to better academic outcomes and a more fulfilling learning experience. This approach creates a positive and inclusive learning environment where students feel valued and supported. This can lead to better overall student well-being and academic success. Students are given the time & space to learn at their own pace without being held back or fear of being left behind.

Educational Inspirations

The Charlotte Mason approach to education emphasizes living books, nature study, and meaningful experiences over rote memorization and textbooks, aiming to cultivate a love for learning. It focuses on educating the whole child, including their moral, spiritual, and intellectual development, through a wide-ranging curriculum that emphasizes narration, observation, and hands-on activities

The Montessori approach to education is centered around the belief that children are naturally curious and capable of initiating learning in a thoughtfully prepared environment. It emphasizes independence, freedom within limits, and respect for the child's natural psychological, physical, and social development
